In 1755, J. Oswald composed 96 miniature pieces dedicated to flowers and called the collection "96 Airs for the Seasons".
He divided the composition in 4 parts:
Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
The Golden Rod is one of the flowers that represents the winter season.

The project combines the work ¨96 Airs for the Seasons¨, a musical composition written by the Scottish Baroque composer James Oswald, with illustrations based on the botanical nomenclature with which the composer titles each of the pieces. This collection of 96 pieces is divided into four blocks, the four seasons of the year, and each of the pieces bears the name of a flower or shrub.
DuoPrismA brings together a selection of these pieces and proposes their interpretation adding a visual dimension with the collaboration of the artist Sarela Lorenzo Robledo, biologist and scientific illustrator, who proposes an illustrated work of the varieties that title these musical compositions based on a botanical approach.
In our search for a new repertoire for the violin-cello duo formation, the music of James Oswald aroused our curiosity for its duality with nature. During the investigation, after contacting Dundeee Central Library, (The Wellgate, Dundee, Scotland) lent us the manuscripts of ¨96 Airs for the Seasons¨ belonging to the ¨Wighton Collection¨.
In this way, DuoPrismA and Sarela Lorenzo Robledo develop an interdisciplinary work in which music and science are combined, in order to awaken the curiosity of an audience with different interests.

As a string duo, the curiosity of searching for new repertoire is primordial in the process of making your identity. You would be surprise of how many pieces are unknown to the public and musicians!
Let’s start with the music that was in our hands since we play together for the first time; probably one of the first piece popping up on the internet when you search for violin-cello repertoire, even though the piece was originally written for clarinet and bassoon and arranged by F. Hermann later on for this formation.
Duet n°1 WoO. 27 from L. v. Beethoven!
There are rumours that this work is ‘probably spurious’, an information we will never be able to verify but we guess, that is why the music will remain mysterious… its history

These last days DuoPrismA has been all over the place taking part in different activities.
Eva was in Lyon doing a stage of “Suzuki Pedagogy Teacher training” in the « Association française pour la pédagogie Suzuki » where she extends and develops her pedagogical cello skills. It has been so inspiring and motivating!
And Ioan has been spending a great time performing with AKOM ensemble in Berlin. They have been recording and performing the work
“A Dangerous Film” by Nil Evron.
Everything revolves around movies! :-)
