This map is a representation of the itinerary that E-21 followed during his adventure across the world. The robot E-21 was designed in China in 2018 to work in a Nanotechnology Factory next to hundreds of other robots like him. Tired of the routine, little by little begins to detect an inner discontent until he realizes he can not stand it anymore, and it is then when he decides to escape from the factory to start discovering the world. A violin and a cello bring to life his trip with music adapted to the images providing a new dimension to his story. DuoPrismA combines a selection of music inspired by several styles with a single purpose; Serve The Life of E-21. Driven by the need to pursue the music, traveling by boat, balloon or on foot, crossing seas and oceans, discovered new cultures, countries, nature... to then share his destiny with the others. But, who are the others? Follow the coming updates of the Robot Community 🤖! #robotcommunity#thelifeofe21

We don´t know much about videography, but we were always interested in this topic, especially since we bought last year a GO PRO HERO5. We have some accessories for the camera; a grip, a holder, the Gopro App, but we were looking for something else to improve the quality of the recording. After an extensive research, we chose to buy a gimbal ZHIYUN SMOOTH-Q, a stabilizer for cameras. This was an important improvement that changed our whole vision of the project as we realized we could make something exceptional by learning about the endless possibilities of our new equipment. We know it is not the equipment a professional filmmaker uses, and we neither consider ourselves as so, obviously, but we found out that some great movies are filmed with the most simple devices. As the enthusiasm was growing, the main parts of the story were starting to be filled with some more detailed information. We found out that a clean storyboard and a good organization were vital to keep our work constructive and effective.
Right in the beginning of one of our trips we found by coincidence a very interesting book in the shop of the Modern Art Museum in Stockholm (Moderna Museet). Visiting the museum itself was a very stimulating experience, as well as a temporary exhibition of animated worlds with objects, music and moving images. The book is called The little white lies guide to making your own movie and has been a daily source of inspiration and motivation since the day we bought it. We also would like to mention our craft supply “first-aid box”. With endless imagination we design our own accessories and scenery background. We need to have all kind of gear with us all the time and keep our minds open to find solutions in order to serve the storyline as faithfully as possible. Sometimes we will have some modifications even in the moment of the shooting itself! The idea of making a movie with live music comes after experimenting the reaction of the audience when stimulating the audio and visual senses at the same time. Gathering all the positive aspects and bringing this idea one step further we thought; why not this time make a live music-movie? The music, the character, the scenery, what comes first? While having a brain storming session during a long road trip, we came out with the concept of first creating a character. We thought it will help us to organize the story line and approach the movie in one way or another. Since we are constantly traveling and playing music around the world, it was clear to us that the topic of traveling would be the strongest point of the story, but then it was difficult to visualize a character/element that could travel and tell a story. Maybe an element from the nature? A tree leaf? a drop of water? It was too poetic. A rubber doll? A rag doll? It was too human. Suddenly the idea popped up. A robot. That was it!! The next day we ran into the nearest toy store shop, a huge one, and we stayed there for a while deciding what would be the best choice. We found it. We found him! E-21 was born that day and he was named after one of the main highways we were driving through during the last few days. Isn’t a lovely name? The more we work on it, the more inspired we get and the more we learn. Sometimes we get inspired by movies, sometimes by listening to music, by places, by books, by situations in daily life. That means that except for the main sections of the story, the thread of the line is subject to constant updates, and that is what make us completely addicted to it.
What is essential for us is to write down everything, literally everything. Starting from scratch, making a first draft, go into the details, define every single second of each scene, give a shape to each chapter, add a good rhythm to it, and followed by a long list. One example of something that terrifies us is how are we going to merge the music together with the image. It is still a bit unclear, but we have no other choice than trusting the process and always keep in mind that, as we already experienced, the solutions come after the doubts and more doubts will come after those solutions. The combination of a strong feeling of enthusiasm together with a yet unknown ending of the process is actually very exciting. We really need to tread carefully and not anticipate the situations! |
